Thrombosis | Learn about the prevention and treatment of thrombosis

 Date:2021-10-26 17:16:31

Thrombosis is considered a "silent killer", and myocardial infarction, stroke and venous thromboembolism are closely related to it. According to data released by the "World Thrombosis Day" expert committee, there are close to 10 million cases of thrombosis worldwide each year, and the number of death from diseases caused by thrombosis accounts for a quarter of the total deaths.

What exactly is a thrombus? What are the hazards of thrombosis? How to prevent the formation of blood clots? Let's learn more about thrombosis by reading this article.

World Thrombosis Day

In order to commemorate the German doctor Rudolf Virchoww who first proposed the concept of "thrombosis" in 1856, and to raise the awareness of "thrombosis" in academia and the public, in March 2014, the International Society for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH) announced that his birthday (October 13) is designated as "World Thrombosis Day". This year, October 13th is the eighth "World Thrombosis Day" in the world.

"Debris" stuck in blood vessels

In layman's terms, a thrombus is a "blood clot". It blocks the passage of blood vessels in various parts of the body like a plug. Under normal conditions, blood clots in the body will decompose naturally, but with age, sedentary exercise, life stress and other reasons, the body's speed of decomposing blood clots will slow down. Once the thrombus cannot be broken down smoothly, it will accumulate on the blood vessel wall, and it is likely to move with the blood flow.

Thrombosis may occur in veins or arteries. Arterial thrombosis mainly causes cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases and peripheral vascular diseases; venous thrombosis mainly causes venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).

Thrombosis-the common "murderer"

Acute myocardial infarction
When the coronary arteries of the heart are embolized due to increased arteriosclerosis or thrombosis, blood flow is interrupted, resulting in local myocardial ischemic necrosis, it means that the human body has an acute myocardial infarction.
Pulmonary thrombosis
Pulmonary thromboembolism is mainly caused by thrombus obstructing pulmonary blood vessels, leading to impaired blood circulation, lung tissue ischemia and hypoxia, and finally causing lung tissue failure.
Cerebral infarction
Hypertension, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, increased platelets, etc. can cause cerebral infarction, but the main cause is thrombosis, which causes cerebral tissue ischemia and hypoxia. Therefore, in order to prevent cerebral infarction, the most important thing is to prevent thrombosis and antithrombosis.
Gangrene of lower limbs
Thrombus flowing in arteries is irregular, and it may flow to any part of the human body. According to clinical statistics, 20% of the thromboembolism is in the cerebral blood vessels, 10% of the thromboembolism is in the visceral blood vessels, and limb thrombosis accounts for 70% to 80%, and the embolism of the lower extremity is 5 times that of the upper extremity. If the embolism occurs in the lower extremity, it is necessary to rescue in time, otherwise it will cause organ tissue necrosis in severe cases.
Kidney failure
Thrombosis in renal blood vessels is similar to the formation of cerebral thrombosis, so some people call it "renal stroke".

Start with the details of life to prevent thrombosis

There are many reasons and factors that cause thrombosis. Generally speaking, the formation of thrombosis is related to hyperlipidemia, hypertension, diabetes, and coronary heart disease. For example, when hyperlipidemia happens, the viscosity of the blood will increase, thereby increasing the risk of thrombosis.

1) High-risk groups
For high-risk populations with underlying diseases, long-term prevention should be done. The main prevention of thrombosis is to prevent the primary disease. According to the doctor's guidance, different graded preventive measures should be taken. It is recommended to keep health testing products at home and pay attention to the health index at any time.

2) General public
You can start more with regular healthy lifestyle habits, such as drinking more water, exercising more frequently to enhance blood vessel elasticity and function; having a degree of entertainment and avoiding sedentary sitting; It's cold in autumn and winter, pay attention to keeping warm against cold; quit smoking, quit drinking, and maintain an optimistic and happy mood.

To prevent the occurrence of thrombosis, action is the key. In order to protect yourself and your family from thrombosis, we should achieve early prevention, early detection and early treatment.
